It has been 5 long months since the covid 19 pandemic forced the closure of our Centre and we are hopeful that soon we will be able to open our doors to our members. Currently, we do have access to our office and the washrooms. Needless, to say, we have been busy, applying for grants & funding to ensure a safe environment to welcome you back.
Our check-in kiosk has been upgraded with a covid 19 screening questionnaire and contact tracing capabilities. Masks and hand washing/sanitizing are an absolute necessity upon entry into the building but masks are not required for exercising. Our fitness activity room will sport 6-foot personal space circles to ensure proper physical distancing during classes. We have also purchased a sanitizing defogger to enable us to clean our spaces with a short turn around time.
Over the summer months, we have been able to offer limited outdoor fitness classes such as Nordic Pole Walking with Lillie Normile, Aging Backwards with Christine Peets, Yoga with Wendy Lavigueur, Qi Gong with Tammy Miller-Toledo and Strength & Core with Kimberley Sledz. These activities have been offered free of charge to our membership.
We have received funding from the Community Foundation of Lennox & Addington to partner with Zeal Holistic Health to offer a much reduced fee to their amazing monthly subscription series. For more details look at the announcement or call the office to discuss.
Another opportunity for our members has been provided by the United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington. Seniors Centre without Walls (SCWW) is a new offering for those members that want to participate from home in social, physical and educational activities. No technology needed, just a telephone. Sabrina Charlton will be the Activity Coordinator for this free offering.
Stay tuned for more information regarding the re-opening of the Centre, the Seniors Town Bus and our Annual General Meeting.
